Planting native and climate-resilient trees is an effective way to strengthen the stability, biodiversity, and long-term resilience of our forests. In times when climate change, extreme weather events, and pest infestations increasingly impact our natural environment, resilient mixed forests make an important contribution to ecological balance.

More InformationForests are among the most valuable ecosystems on our planet. They filter the air, store water, absorb large amounts of CO₂, and provide habitats for countless plant and animal species. They also protect the soil from erosion, help regulate temperatures, and serve as essential recreational spaces for people.
However, many forests are under increasing pressure. Longer periods of drought, storms, pests, and uniform tree stands highly sensitive to environmental changes are taking their toll. As a result, forests lose stability and struggle to fulfill their natural functions.
Planting native and climate-resilient tree species is a simple yet powerful measure to prepare forests for the future. New, diverse mixed forests are more robust, promote biodiversity, and adapt more easily to changing environmental conditions.
Every newly planted tree creates additional habitat and actively contributes to the protection of nature.
On March 12, 2026, we rolled up our sleeves: Volunteers from various departments spent a full day outdoors in Munich’s Forstenrieder Park, planting new trees to support forest restoration.
Before the young seedlings could be planted, it was time to roll up our sleeves. We prepared the soil, dug planting holes, and carefully set each seedling in place. Step by step, a new area took shape, one that will contribute to a more stable and diverse forest in the long run.
We also visited the site of our 2023 planting initiative in Forstenrieder Park. Even though the young trees are still small, it’s already clear: our efforts are bearing fruit and making a long-lasting difference.
