Sustainability rating

EcoVadis Gold: Our sustainability management, independently evaluated

By trading biomethane, we help companies achieve verifiable CO2 emissions reductions while reliably meeting regulatory requirements. But how do we operate ourselves as a company, employer, and energy trader?

Organizations that assess the sustainability credentials of products often also evaluate the companies behind them. That is why we undergo an annual assessment of our sustainability performance by EcoVadis, an independent sustainability rating platform. EcoVadis specializes in corporate sustainability assessments and has built a global network of more than 150,000 rated companies across over 185 countries.

If you need to include our sustainability performance in your own supplier assessment process, you will find a robust and independent basis here.

Awarded the EcoVadis Gold Medal

In our latest assessment conducted in August 2026, bmp greengas was awarded the EcoVadis Gold Medal, placing us among the top 5% of all companies assessed by EcoVadis during the previous 12 months.

This ranking is based on a percentile system that compares a company’s performance against all companies assessed by EcoVadis worldwide within the last 12 months, regardless of industry sector.

How this recognition benefits you

A sustainability rating is more than a badge of recognition. It directly affects how easily you can integrate us into your sustainability and procurement processes. For us, it is also a valuable management tool that highlights both strengths and opportunities for improvement.

What is EcoVadis?

EcoVadis is an independent provider of business sustainability ratings for companies worldwide. Rather than evaluating individual products, EcoVadis assesses the quality of a company’s sustainability management system across four core areas: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement.

The result is a scorecard with ratings ranging from 0 to 100 points. The score reflects how a company performs compared with all organisations assessed by EcoVadis globally during the previous 12 months. The scorecard highlights strengths as well as areas for improvement and serves as the basis for targeted action plans.

How the medals are awarded

The medals are based on a company’s percentile rank. This rank is calculated at the time the scorecard is published and compares the company’s performance to that of all companies assessed in the EcoVadis database over the past 12 months. The comparison is made across all industries, not within the company’s own industry.

What does EcoVadis assess?

EcoVadis evaluates 4 key themes comprising a total of 21 sustainability criteria. The criteria relevant to a company depend on factors such as industry, company size, and geographic footprint. Companies only qualify for a medal if they achieve a minimum score of 30 points in each of the 4 themes.

Environment

Includes energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, water, waste and materials, as well as the environmental impact of products throughout their lifecycle.

Labor & Human Rights

These include, among other things, working conditions, occupational health and safety, continuing education and career development, and non-discrimination.

Ethics

Includes working conditions, occupational health and safety, training and career development, and non-discrimination practices.

Sustainable Procurement

Assesses environmental and social practices throughout the supply chain, including the standards and requirements companies apply to their suppliers.

How is the evaluation conducted?

Policies Actions Results
What the company formally defines in writing, from environmental policies to codes of conduct.
How these commitments are implemented in practice, including processes, certifications, and company-wide deployment.
Demonstrable outcomes, including reporting, KPIs, performance metrics, and external information about the company.

What an EcoVadis medal is not

The assessment evaluates the quality of a company’s sustainability management system at the time of review, not the sustainability performance of individual products.

For the assessment of our biomethane products, certifications such as REDcert, ISCC, and SURE together with the corresponding greenhouse gas reduction documentation, are particularly relevant.
